How Does Hypnosis Help You Take Control of Your Life?

Updated: Mar 6

Hypnosis has become a common subject nowadays. It is a state of consciousness with focused attention that allows you to go beyond your old limitations. It is a heightened state of suggestibility brought about by way of hypnotic induction, which allows you to work on your subconscious mind so that you can accept the acceptable suggestions to make changes you desire to achieve in your life. But, how? Hypnosis in and itself is just a state of consciousness, how can it help you take control of your life? This is crucial to know the "How"s while talking about and considering certain processes to make changes in our lives. So, with this, I want to talk, especially about how hypnosis works and how its process and application help you.

Everyone wants to live a happy life – all want positive change in life. We want to enjoy freedom, success, and happiness, but it doesn’t happen as you desire. Everybody wants to move forward and achieve success in life, but only a few enjoy success on time as they have expected. Nobody wants to stay clogged in a place where nothing is helping you. If you're struggling with your life situations (whatever it may be - mental, physical, emotional, or anything else), then you are not alone. For the sake of health wellness, healing, lasting peace, and tranquility, you might have tried everything with no results. Now, in such a case you can take the benefits of hypnosis. Hypnosis can help you take control of your life. Numerous pieces of evidence and testimonials show the benefits of hypnosis achieved and enjoyed by tens of thousands of people in the United States and around the globe, proving that hypnosis works, and can help you too. Let’s see how hypnosis works and how it can help you take control of your life.

You might have read, followed, and listened to a lot of motivational speakers, gurus, and coaches while searching for solutions to your life problems. If not all, at least some of your favorites, might have said that the fastest way to take control of your life is to stop controlling everything and everyone around you. If you have worked with your coaches, mentors, therapists, or spiritual and religious leaders, they might also have told you multiple times to let go of things that are making you suffer. They are right that you are wasting a lot of energy, time, and attention trying to control other things and people. You don’t know how much energy you are burning through, thinking about, worrying about, and obsessing about what other people are doing, what they’re not doing, and what they’re feeling, all of which you have no control. This all sounds great and easy, but it’s almost impossible to let go consciously of things or people you’re attached to for this long. You can’t easily and immediately stop thinking about and worrying about things and people around you. It needs huge emotional and mental determination, preparation, and work on making a life-shifting decision. It’s a difficult task to consciously stop doing things you’re doing all the time; it takes strong determination, courage, and a huge heart to accept the transformation.

As I have gone through this process of hypnosis and self-hypnosis and have been helped, I have helped many clients to succeed by utilizing this advanced hypnosis process. With the application of hypnosis and self-hypnosis, it will be easy, comfortable, and effective to make changes in your life with lasting results. With the help of self-hypnosis, it will be easier to overcome frustration, thoughts, opinions, feelings, and expectations, which are hard for every other human to deal consciously with. We are brought up, or programmed mentally, physically, emotionally, and socially or environmentally that way in our subconscious mind. You have no idea how many opinions, how much frustration and expectations you have about what other people have done to you, what they were doing, or what they should be doing. We don’t know how obsessed we are with everybody else and what they should be doing or not doing. It’s almost impossible to fix all of these with your willpower only because it is rooted in your system, in your subconscious mind. It might be possible if you accept changes through hypnosis or other such life-changing incidences and impactful influences from authoritative figures, beloved ones, or extreme life events such as near-death experiences.

To better understand how hypnosis and self-hypnosis help, it’s important to understand the functions of the conscious and subconscious mind. Your conscious mind is everything in your immediate awareness, such as willpower, rational thoughts, and analytical processes. According to psychologist George Miller, working memory has a limit of 7 plus or minus 2 bits of information. This means that your conscious mind can only work with a very small fraction of your brain’s capacity. Other rest is all in the subconscious mind. Here I'm using subconscious and unconscious interchangeably to keep it simple and easier to understand.

Your subconscious mind has everything which you might not be aware of. Autonomic nervous systems and involuntary body functions such as breathing, heart beating, digestion, and blood circulation – all operate without conscious interference, at the subconscious level. Your subconscious mind contains all your memories, strategies, beliefs, emotions, and habits. The skills that you have learned and mastered – such as walking, speaking, tying your shoes, driving, etc. – all these tasks are performed by your subconscious mind automatically. It is the most compelling part of the human mind. The conscious willpower alone cannot overcome habits that are established in the subconscious part of the mind. Willpower is immediate and temporary, which is a part of your conscious mind. Your habits and impulses are operated from your subconscious mind, which has abilities to override the resolve of the rational conscious mind and eventually prevails. That is why, to make any substantial changes in your emotions, behaviors, and habits, you must make changes in your subconscious mind. And this can be achieved through a hypnotic process.

For your information, anything influencing – spiritual, religious, medical, or any other authoritative figures or loved ones, and willingly acceptable reasons/suggestions, not only the hypnotist, can induce hypnosis. Sometimes you just tap into your subconscious mind without notice, but intentionally tapping into your subconscious mind and making changes needs some skills. You need appropriate and the right tools to get into it correctly, and hypnosis/self-hypnosis is one of them. There’s a critical factor between your conscious and subconscious mind, which can reject or accept information as a part of your belief system. This critical factor is built in such a way that it doesn’t easily accept change; it feels threatened and will reject any suggestion that doesn’t match your current belief system. It has many highly developed defense mechanisms in place. With the help of hypnosis, you can bypass this critical factor and allow new habits and beliefs to get into your subconscious mind where they become accepted as facts. In this process in the hypnotic state, you will be able to command your true desires to supersede your old unwanted habits and self-sabotaging behaviors.

No one can introduce any thoughts and behaviors that you don’t want into your subconscious mind. Only acceptable suggestions that you want are accepted by the subconscious mind. All unwanted suggestion is automatically rejected. You are fully conscious when you're in hypnosis and you’re in complete control; no one can hypnotize you against your will.

While consciously trying to change behavior, our resolution and willpower often fail.  This is because while we consciously desire change, our subconscious mind has not assimilated the new behavior.  It’s operating on autopilot as it has become uninterruptible, and well protected by the critical factor – a protective part of your powerful mind. This is the reason why you have no results after trying a lot of things to change your habits.

Your subconscious mind wants to work for your highest good and has already established its strategies. It operates with reactions, habits, and beliefs that were established in your childhood and are installed much like a program on your computer.  Acquired skills, socialization, and protective mechanisms are automatic. As you mature, some of your deeply embedded internal programming, i.e., habits, becomes counterproductive.  What may have made sense at one time, is now a problem.

This is where hypnosis can help you make the changes you want.  While in hypnosis, you can easily eliminate unwanted habits, sharpen your focus, gain greater control, release limitations, accept affirmative beliefs, and accelerate improvement in the areas you long to master.  Where your subconscious was previously set on autopilot which now has become counterproductive to some of your new goals, hypnosis can readjust them to align toward your new goals just as automatically.

The feeling of relief and relaxation you get in hypnosis, the education you will learn, and the insights or realization you experience and achieve through hypnosis work, play a vital role in your transformational process. In addition to this, by learning self-hypnosis, you have tools that you can use anytime and anywhere you feel safe. This self-hypnosis helps you renew and re-energize yourself, and have strength, hope, clarity, and balance in your overall (mind-body-spirit) being. These are inside tools and processes that help you get lasting results.

Ultimately, this advanced transformational hypnosis process helps you be able to take back control of your life in a more effective, quicker, affordable, non-addictive, safer, and easier way. With this valuable achievement you acquired through the hypnotic process, you will be empowered and be able to experience holistic (mind-body-spirit) transformation. When you become able to take control of your life, you become self-reliant, empowered, self-controlled, and resilient. This is how hypnosis/self-hypnosis helps you take back control of your life as the process helps you renew your life, have strength and clarity in life, live a balanced life, and achieve your desires, and goals.
